The Piney Hills Quilt Guild meets the 2nd Thursday of each month. We meet at Grace United
Methodist Church which is located at 3401 Trenton Street, Ruston, Louisiana in the Recreation Room. Yearly dues
are $12.00 which covers the cost of a newsletter and program materials. Each month we have a different
program which the members are taught different quilting skills. This past year we had programs
on machine quilting, water color quilting, stained glass quilting , paper piecing, liberated quilting, applique, and
various quilting and piecing techniques.
Each year our guild does a raffle quilt. This year's quilt is an original. The center medallion was designed by one of the ladies in the group. This is an orignal design by Ann Lewis, a member of our guild. Members or the guild did the applique and piecing and the quilting was machine quilted by a professional long arm quilter in our area. The quilt will be raffled off at Ruston's annual Peach Festival in June. Our guild will donate part of the money to DART which is a domestic abuse shelter that serves Lincoln Parish and five other surrounding Parishes. We also plan to give some to Med-camp and some to Children Unlimitted, an organization which helps handicapped children.
